My name is Anne-Marie Verron, I've been making artist bears since 2006. Why "L'ours tombé des étoiles" ? Because it means "the bear fallen from the stars". I believe this name suits my bears very well, because they all look very lonely, as if they were looking for a new home down the Earth.
I draw my own patterns and reproduce them in german mohair, alpaca or faux fur. I use each pattern twice or maybe three times but I always change a detail (arms shape, paws length, bear more or less plump...) and of course the mohair. I never make the same bear twice, each one is unique even is they certainly look like siblings !
My bears' eyes are made of glass and their nose is woven. Each bear is entirely hand-sewn and filled with glorex filling material and sand so that (s)he can stand up easily. A bear is 5-way-jointed so you can easily change its poses.
When I finish a bear, which takes about 12 hours for a 12" bear, I find out whether it is a boy or a girl. It is always a surprise and all I have to do is pick a name for the "newly-born". I always ask for help to my daughter Charlotte who is also this website's and who always criticizes my work gently.
Each bear goes to its new home with a certificate of authenticity and a "L'ours tombé des étoiles" necklace.
My bears are collectibles, not toys, they are not suitable for children.
